After a long waiting list and much demand from Laura’s Winter workshop, she is returning to teach a similar multimedia class in April. This will be the same workshop that was offered during Winter Quarter. Students will be encouraged to explore, experiment, and focus on a layering process while creating dynamic compositions. We will use color, drawings, and high contrasts with multiple materials to build engaging compositions. One of the most rewarding tools students learn is how to embrace imperfection or the idea of “accident” in their pieces.

~

A part of Day 1 will include brief drawing lessons. Then, with paint and charcoal, we will use a variety of tools to build the first layer of colors, shapes and patterns. On Day 2, we will continue the layering of paint, adding new patterns and shapes to the compositions in an effort to selectively cover and reveal the work from Day 1. We will also incorporate drawings from Day 1 into the final design. All levels of art experience are welcome – though brave students who want to try new techniques will gain the most from this class.

A Supply List will be available on the AAC website at arkansasartscenter.org/museum-school—supply-lists.
